So, this past week, we went on vacation with Leo's family. We rented a cabin up in Island Park, Idaho. It's about an hour away from Yellowstone. It was a lot of fun. Island Park is where they used to come as kids for summer vacation, so it's always fun for them to come and reminisce. We came here 2 years ago and stayed in rough little cabins. We decided to splurge a little this year and get a nice, big cabin. All of us kids contributed and we are so glad we did it! The cabin was gorgeous and had tons of space for all of us. Here's some pics from our trip!-
These first few are from the actual road trip. It took about 5 hours.
Snackities.
Here was our questionable laffy taffy. It had a nice poop green color. Don't worry though, we still ate it.
We got their earlier before the rest of the family, so we didn't hesitate to let Jackson get naked and play in the river.
Here's our pretty cabin. It was beautiful on the inside, too.
The first night, we all just hung out and the kids played well together. Brielle & Jackson were so cute this time. Jackson would get so excited when Brielle would come around. Brielle was so nice to try to play with him, even though he doesn't really get what he's supposed to do. Sweet little Adam is getting really fun, too. He eats as much as the adults do and just smiles the entire time.
The second day, we headed over to Macks Inn (where their cabin used to be) and wandered down memory lane. Brielle got everyone a sucker for the trip and you can tell, we loved them.
Here's the path along the river the kids used to walk down. It really is a gorgeous area.
We stopped at the old swingset.
Here's the old cabin.
Then, we headed over the dock that's close to the cabin. They used to fish off of here with their dad & grandpa. They always love coming here.
We hung out at the dock for a long time and took lots of pictures. Some of us walked around in the water for awhile.
The next day, we did a lot of lounging. In the afternoon, some of them floated down the river. Jackson and I spent our time at the cabin relaxing.
How adorable is Brielle's haircut! My sister in law, Adrienne did it herself. It was honestly adorable.
The deck out back had a hot tub and once Jackson got used to the water, he looooved it. We made sure to turn the temperature down and it was basically a big bath tub.
I didn't do a very good job of getting Jackson is proper swimming clothing, which resulted in heavily soaked river water diapers.
The last day, we were going to go to Yellowstone. Leo's grandpa had a heart attack, so Leo's mom & dad headed to Boise to be with him. He's doing better, so that's good. The kids stayed at the cabin and instead of the long drive to Yellowstone, we went to Mesa Falls about 20 minutes away. It was a beautiful waterfall that you could basically drive up to.
The kids & grandkids.
The only stinky part of this trip was when our car got broken into. Our back window was smashed in and they stole my purse, which had my wallet and phone. We didn't have any cash and we cancelled our credit cards, so it was really just the phone that I'll have to buy again. My drivers license was expiring next month anyway, so not too big of a deal. The worst part is that we have to replace the window.
Jackson did struggle a lot with sleeping while he was there. He just doesn't sleep well outside of his crib, which resulted in a lot of fussiness. I always feel bad for Leo's family. They rarely get to see his adorable, happy self.
My mom, Cody, & Callie are going to come visit for this next week. They should be getting here soon and I'm so excited to see them! We always have a lot of fun together.
