Life is good.

So, today is a great day. Yes, I realize it's only 11 am, but you can tell a lot about your day by how your morning goes.

I didn't feed Jackson at all last night and he did great. Woke up twice, but didn't cry for longer than 15 minutes (this is an improvement from the hr and a half last night) and then he went down easily for his nap and now he's been asleep for an hr and half. Hallelujah.

Which means I put on makeup and have wasted time on the computer, drinking diet coke and eating goldfish. I told you. Great day.

I've been downloading music the whole time. I'll tell you what I've downloaded.

Kelly Clarkson's new album (I might be the only person that still really listens to her)
Ingrid Michaelson's new album (If you don't listen to her, do it now.)
We The Kings (my new favorite love)
Jason Mraz's new single (my forever favorite love. Well, next to Michael Buble.)
Demi Lovato's album (We'll see if I regret this choice)

P.S. member that whole reading goal... Yeah, I have 4 books from the library gathering dust on my tv stand. The problem is, I got a fancy android phone so now my free time is wasted on dumb games...

Reading

So, I've made a new goal for myself. I want to read some of the classics. I like to read, but I'm not the person that's always working on a book. But I feel like there's so many books that I should read at least once. Right now, I'm working on The Hobbit (in preparation for the movie someday). So, yes. I'm going to read some books. So if you have any suggestions, let me know!

I mean, really?

Can we talk about this? Do you see these baby hairs? What am I supposed to do with this? So, after I had Jackson, I of course shed quite a bit of hair. I could tell it was from the front left part of my hair because it looked so bald when I would do my hair. And apparently, it's deciding to grow back now and wants to stick straight up.

The real question is, should I make this picture my profile picture on facebook? Who doesn't love a lot of forehead?

9 months old yesterday

It's crazy, right? So here's some things about this boy that I love:

What he eats: still loves to nurse (although the teething phase makes it not so fun for myself....tmi?), his new love are the Cutie oranges, string cheese, still enjoys bananas, yogurt, rotisserie chicken, pizza

His milestones: he can crawl! Halle-freakin-lujah! 'Tis been a long time coming. What finally inspired him was his dad building towers with blocks. He looooves to knock down towers. So we build towers and crawls to destroy them. He could do it all day long. And his babbling is probably the cutest thing I've ever heard. He makes all kinds of sounds and plays with his voice all day long. He waves pretty well, not on command, but lots of times you'll see him waving to things he likes.

His quirks: he loves to give pats on my shoulder or back (melts my heart every time). Oh! He's done this for a long time, but I kept forgetting to write it down. He has this formula of "Cough, Cough, Sneeze". It happens when he is in the sun, when he's sucked in too much air or water or if he just needs to cough, it comes with a cough, cough, sneeze. He loooooves other kids and babies. He could watch them play all day long. If we are in a store and he sees kids, he'll start smiling, squawking, and smacking his hands down so they'll look at him.

What makes him laugh: peek a boo (specifically, peek a boo behind the couch). Daddy throwing him around on the bed, playing with cars, still loves any new noise i can come up with

Favorite Toys: He got tons of toys for Christmas. Some of his favorites include any ball that is throwable. He loooves throwing balls. The two that he prefers are his soft basketball and the bouncy green one. Not gonna lie, he's got a pretty good arm. He also loves his activity table, although that one requires adult supervision, because the boy has no hesitation to fall straight backward. He also has a spinning car race thing that he loves. Has an old school xylophone that he likes too.

Some of my favorite pics from the last month

Safety concerns? Nah.

It's possible I might let my baby do things a normal mom wouldn't. Like yesterday, I poured a bunch of water on his high chair and let him go to town. He was in heaven.

And sometimes I let him feed himself banana, which means he ends up covered in goop. And I'm not so great at the whole bib concept.

And sometimes I let him eat my phone. Well, I let him do that all the time. (Curse you Cricket and your indestructible phones.)

And sometimes I let him chew cords. Don't worry, I unplug them first. I do take some safety precautions.

And today, I let him play with the dvds. I opened the door and he went crazy. I didn't expect him to know what to do, but apparently "dvd-destroying" is an innate reflex.

Does he look slightly old-mannish here?

P.S. Leo is officially the "crawling-whisperer". He got Jackson to scooch quite a bit last night and tonight, he finally was using his arms to go forward.

I'm cool.

So, I've spent the past 3 days watching the extended versions of Lord of the Rings (note the post title), 'cause I'm cool like that. It's been quite the emotional roller coaster. No lie, I've cried twice.

I know you're thinking, "She does know this blog is public, right?".

Most importantly, can we talk about how attractive Aragorn is? It's okay, my husband's aware of this crush too. I mean, for real. He's the man.

Anyway...

My poor baby is in needy teething mode again. Everything, and I mean everything, he chomps on as hard as possible. He looks like a puppy most of the time. He chews on shirts, blankets, blocks, you name it, he's chomped it.

I realize this post isn't the most exciting, but I'm ignoring the fact that my kitchen looks the way that it does by playing on the computer.

New Year

Well. 'Tis a new year. 2011 was such a good year. Mostly because of my bubba boy, but I also graduated college, my husband is in a job he loves, and I think I'm finally out of the "growing out my bangs" stage. So, you know? Big things happened.

I'm super excited for this year though. My baby will be 1 in a few months and every time he hits a new stage of development, he gets more and more fun. Also, this is the year we are moving back to Texas. That's the plan. Now, we just have to find a job, find a home, find renters, etc.

Anyway, here's some random photos from the last 2 weeks. We spent Christmas with Leo's family and the week after, my mom and the kids came out to visit. We had a lot of fun and Jackson absolutely adores them. He kept reaching for Callie and giving her kisses. He thinks Cody and Callie are the most entertaining people ever.

He got one of those old school xylophone toys and totally knows how to play it. Super cute.

Okay, how awkward is this photo? I feel like he looks so gluttonous here.

Still leading the unheard music...
