Feeling Nostalgic

Man, nostalgic is one of those words that if you look at long enough, I'd swear that's not how its spelled.

This morning, I finally feel better. So, instead of sleeping when Jackson naps, I decided to get back to the old grind and waste time on the computer. Leo and I have an external hard drive and we try to somewhat regularly put our pictures and music and any other important things on there so just in case our computer crashes, we have backup. Anyway. I was looking for a specific picture of something on the hard drive and then I ended up wasting an hr looking through all of our old pictures and videos. And so here comes the "Member that one time..." series of pictures.

Member that one time when I told you to make a face and this is what you did...

Member when you proposed to me and it was the best day ever

Member when we thought this was a good idea...

Bleck.

I've got some sort of stomach bug. Yesterday, I was just achy but today is a-whole-nother experience, if you catch my drift. Sorry for the tmi. But Jackson has been a perfect angel. We spent 80% of yesterday laying in my bed or on the couch and we did a whole lot of tv watching. He took 2 really long naps yesterday so I could sleep. And today he's still asleep upstairs. Usually he wakes up between 630 and 730. And thank you to my sweet husband who cleaned the kitchen last night. The only thing I am wishing right now is that I lived near my family, so I could just pawn my child off on my mom or sister.

Saddest part, I'm fully avoiding Pinterest because just seeing food is making me sick.

P.S. yay rangers. I didn't watch the end of the game where it got exciting because I went to bed, but we won! That's all that matters to me.

No bottle...

Oh little child of mine. You don't want to take a bottle. I realize it's mostly me to blame because I didn't try until you were 2 months old, but still, it would be nice if you would take it. I've tried 3 different kinds of bottles and you no like a single one. Oh well, I guess there's not much I can do, but keep loving you and thinking you're perfect. It's hard to not when you're such a handsome goose.

P.S. If you could stop grinding your fancy new teeth, that would make me cringe a lot less. Thanks.

Must....share....website

Ok, I realized I already blogged today and you'd think since I don't blog thaaat much, I would save what I want to say and blog tomorrow but I can't wait.

www.picnik.com

Go to it. It's a free photo editing website. They have a premium package that's pretty cheap but the free has quite a few options still. These 3 photos I did in the last 10 minutes. Obviously, it's nothing crazy but playing around with the exposure and colors but it really does make a difference.

I have found my new addiction.

Hurry Up Halloween

Ok, I don't care about Halloween at all. It just needs to come and go. Partly because I hate being scared. My mind holds onto images way too long and then I just stay up all night clinging to Leo. The last scary movie I ever saw was The Ring and that girl still freaks me out. Anyway...

I don't have a single decoration for Halloween or Thanksgiving for that matter. I love Thanksgiving but I'd rather have Christmas decorations up. So yes, I'm one of those crazies who puts up her Christmas tree either a couple days before Thanksgiving or that weekend.

I've decided that this year we are going to have a burlap Christmas! My tree decorations are all from the Dollar Store and so I think I'm going to use any white decorations I have and add burlap accents. My downstairs is gray blue, dark brown, and white, so I think that will works nicely together. Plus I have to get another stocking for Jackson this year so I think we need a new theme and burlap it will be! I keep seeing super cute things on Pinterest using burlap. My sister made a wreath using burlap and it is adorable! Here are some of the things I want to do. (pictures taken from Pinterest)

This is the one my sister made.

One of my favorite songs...

So, this has become one of my all-time favorite songs and I'll tell you why. I've always sung a lot. Music puts me in a great mood. My husband has realized this and if I'm feeling grumpy in the car, he'll find my station and crank it up. Remember, I never said, I can sing. I just said, I like singing. Not anywhere noteworthy, around the house, in the car, and especially with kids. I love singing with kids. When I did my student teaching, my favorite time of day was music time. When my brother and sister were babies, I loved singing to them. A lot of this is because my mom sang with us when we were little. And both my mom and my dad liked musicals. My older sister, Jess, was blessed with a beautiful voice, and my little sister and I used to try to sing well at night, laying in our bed. (Sorry, Loo.)

Anyway. That was a lot more information than needed. But, needless to say, I love music.

I knew I'd sing a lot with Jackson. And I do. Anything and everything becomes a song. Leo has a much better voice than I do and you can tell Jackson loves it when he sings. He always has a big grin on his face. Especially when Leo gets his deep voice on.

When Jackson was a colicky newborn, I used to sing this song to him. Make You Feel My Love by Adele. I realize Adele was not the original singer, but come on, it's Adele. She's perfection.

I could rarely get through the song without tearing up and this is why. Read the words and think about a first time mom, trying to help her crying newborn feel happy.

"Make You Feel My Love"

When the rain is blowing in your face,
And the whole world is on your case,
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear,
And there is no one there to dry your tears,
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

(The next part is always where I'd cry.)

I know you haven't made your mind up yet,
But I would never do you wrong.
I've known it from the moment that we met,
No doubt in my mind where you belong.

I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue,
I'd go crawling down the avenue.
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love.

The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret.
Though winds of change are blowing wild and free,
You ain't seen nothing like me yet.

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true.
Nothing that I wouldn't do.
Go to the ends of the Earth for you,
To make you feel my love

So, yes. I realize, not very many of you care or should care about this. But since, I hope to someday print my blog as a sort-of journal, I wanted to write down how special this song was to me.

Warning: More pictures than you could ever imagine or want....

Jackson is 6 months old today. That is craziness. I cannot believe that he's half way to being a 1 year old! It's so bittersweet. On one hand, I'm so glad that he has become such a happy, loving boy. But on the other, I don't want him to get any bigger. I decided to go through my pictures and choose my favorites.

This is him in the hospital. I'm pretty sure it's the first day and Grandma is holding him. He was a beautiful newborn. 8 lbs 10 oz.

He was a couple wks old here and as you can see, thoroughly enjoying his bear suit. He really did have a perfect scowl.

This picture was taken with his 1 month photo shoot. His Auntie Gen took the pictures and they were beautiful.

This one was also with the photo shoot. My obsession with adorable boy clothes had already begun.

This was taken on the day of his blessing. It might surprise some of you, but I used to be horrible about remembering to take pictures, and so, we didn't even get a picture of him in his blessing outfit. Woopsy.
I think he was 2 months old for these.

4th of July. Check out his noggin.

He was 3 months old in the next couple.

And now 4 months old.

  And 5 months old...

The rest of the pictures came from last Saturday. Leo's sister, Genevieve, was willing to do a little family photo shoot for us up in the Canyon. We were all getting together for a hot dog roast anyway and so we took advantage of the fall colors and went to town. These first few were after we'd spent an hr taking pictures. I call them Angry Bear Series. He was just slightly done with the cold weather.

  Note the dramatic coughing...

Now all of these pictures are from the actual photo shoot.

Okay, I couldn't help but put in this first awkward picture. I was trying to get him to sit up, but he's not that great at it yet and we were on concrete and as Leo pointed out, also on a bridge over a freezing river. However, it does take me back to the day he was born. (inappropriate?)

I put this one in because this is what he is doing 90% of the time. Pulling my hair. He especially loves the back of my neck. You know? The really sensitive part? Yea, that's his favorite.

However, it's pretty hard to stay mad at this face.
